Bilirubin Tests

Yes, you read that right; I said tests.

In order for us to leave the hospital, Olivia must pass a bilirubin count test. A count of 8 is a pass, and to complete the test, the lab needs two cc's of blood, which they collect from a heel prick.

Apparently Olivia doesn't "bleed" well, so she had to be pricked about four times to get enough blood the first time around. When the test results came back, the count was 10, but the lab said that the blood was a bit coagulated, which may have contributed to a high reading. So, another two heel pricks, and now the second "draw" is done. We probably won't have the test results for a couple of hours, but we're hoping to be able to sleep in our own bed tonight, even if it's not for very long.
